Good luck fellas and to all the underdogs this weekend! 👍. I’ve missed the last 3 Sundays, but will be back from vacations after next week.
3 years ago today, we lost not only a member of Elmtree but a true friend, an all around good guy with a heart of gold. Anyone and everyone who knew him, loved him. He will never be forgotten. He lives on in our memories. I'm sure Sean will be looking down on all of us this Sunday-probably laughing at us playing in a tournament named after him!
Randy, as much flack as we give you, I must say we are thankful to have you in our lives. I’m sure Sean is proud of you for how you carry out his memory. As much of a friend that Sean was to all, you certainly carry that torch to all of us. Thoughts and prayers to all involved and let’s all have a great Sunday, regardless of how anyone plays. Only met Sean once, but I would guess that’s how he’d want Sunday to be.

It was in a foursome with Sean that I was first introduced to Elmtree - it was about 10 years ago now. That week he had been arrested for not paying bills and passing bad checks. Turned out it was a different Sean Chambers but our Sean got arrested for it. He was so funny telling the story!
Anyway. Sean was so open to me about Elmtree, how it worked, that he would introduce me to Don after the round. For me the rest is history. Like the Elmtree mayor - everyone knew him - everyone said hi to him. We’d pass a random group on the golf course and you’d hear “Hey Sean!”. Every time. In fact, the day he died I was on the practice green with him and a random guy that Sean hadn’t seen in a while started up with him, asking about all sorts of people they both knew from years ago.
Here’s the last Elmtree picture we had with Sean, I think it was only a couple months before he passed. A Sunday it was supposed to be crappy out but turned out to be a great day. Only 6 of us braved the sunshine! Including Sean of course!
See you on Sunday!

Thanks for sharing that picture Alex it truly was a great day. Of course Randy bagged out because of a threat of a dew drop or 2. A great friend, salt of the Earth, and way too generous of a man. But that is who Sean was and a Testament to how many lives he touched. Always think of him, especially at the golf course. I am sure he will be laughing at more than one of our shots on Sunday.

Bruce Phillips in.
Alex, send me that picture, it was a great day.
There are not enough words to completely describe Sean and his life. He not only is remembered for his friendship within our small golf family, but also for his friendship and passions developed through all the local sports teams and the relationships which evolved his entire life. Although his life was cut short, he will eternally be remembered.

Was discussing with Randy about the possibility of getting a bronze plaque to put at the base of the tree. Something similar to the plaques they have around the practice putting green.
I work with the guys at Hero's Salute and a 12" x 6" plaque runs about $250.
Thoughts?

I miss playing with all of you every week. This week will be especially difficult since I would love to play in Sean's tournament. I think about him often. I loved playing with him with Elmtree and in the many outings we played together. Alex, thanks for sharing that picture. That was a day that was supposed to be a washout and many of the people not pictured were too delicate to get their widdle feet wet. But as always, Sean was there. I'm sure he will be looking down on you all this Sunday. I hope the course he is playing on now has a lot of dogleg left holes.

It still feels like somebody is missing when we meet up at the course. There was this aura around Mayor Sean everywhere he went. You just knew you were going to have fun, laughing the whole time. I believe he single highhandedly kept Elmtree going in the lean years when there was maybe 6 of us left. Seemed like any week we played with a fill-in resulted in a new member because they had such a good time playing that week with Sean. It wasn't until after his passing that I realized how generous he was to local sports teams. I knew he followed and even traveled with these teams but just didn't know how much he gave to these organizations. That was how he was, never looking for a 'pat on the back' or other recognition. Sean, Keep an eye on us - we'll keep you laughing.... at our golf game.
PS: Do you get the ESPN Chunk Zone channel were you are?

Looks like 14 players, 12 in the tournament. 2 spots left.
We will have 2 Tournament Flights. Flight winners will receive $50 & the overall winner another $25. Closest to the Pins will have $10 added to each prize. (Estimated: $24 each)

Tournament quotas (as of Friday evening):
A Flight
Alex 36
Jim 25
Dennis 20
Ken 20
John C 19
Chuck 19
B Flight
Dan 18
Todd 18
Don 17
Randy 17
Bob S 15
Ed 14
Chopper (26) and Bruce P (24) both don’t qualify for the tournament but will play in the regular action. Since they are both A players in the action, John C or Chuck will draw down to B for the action only (but will still be A in the tourney).
I’m sure someone will enter late and throw this totally off, but that’s cool! Two spots remain, come and get them!
